Prestige Scotland – Scottish Food is Raising its Game

When Murrayfield was given the honour of hosting the 2007 Rugby World Cup match between Scotland and New Zealand, it wasn’t only Scottish rugby being put to the test; Scottish hospitality was also under the spotlight in front of an international audience.

Just under 3,000 rugby fans from both Northern and Southern hemispheres took the chance to add glamour to their day by opting for some additional hospitality before and after the game. Two hospitality packages were on offer; Platinum (£530) offering prestigious hospitality within iconic Murrayfield Stadium; or Prestige (£460) at the stunning Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

Behind the catering operations was locally based Prestige Scotland, award winning supplier of hospitality and catering services to celebrated venues such as Hampden Park, Dundas Castle, National Museums of Scotland and Murrayfield Stadium. Prestige Scotland’s brief was to deliver a first class eating experience to 910 supporters at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange and a further 2,000 at the stadium.

Free flowing wine and beer and over 1,500 bottles of Champagne complemented the innovative menus which offered smoked salmon and beef. Twelve chefs, headed by local Executive Chef Stephen Frost, and led by Head Chefs Trevor Garden and David Kinnes, together ensured each supporter was served a delicious meal by one of over 180 waiting staff on duty on the day.

Prestige Scotland saw this as not only a wonderful opportunity to showcase its skills in both service and food quality, but also to present the very best of Scottish food. Every dish served in front of the 2,910 supporters on the day consisted of ingredients sourced from no further than 50 miles from Edinburgh itself. This was a terrific feat that was rewarded by the delight and appreciation of supporters.

“The Rugby World Cup is an international event and one where we wanted to reflect the very best of Scottish food, hospitality and service, of which we are hugely proud” commented Neil Brownlee from Prestige Scotland.
